OSHKOSH DRAGON BOAT RACE & FESTIVAL
Rights
The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and its partners own all rights relating to the festival,
including but not limited to, organization, advertising sponsorship, commercial representation,
broadcasting, reproduction and on-site food and beverage sales.
Food & Beverage Policy
The Oshkosh Dragonboat Festival was created to raise funds to support the educational activities of
the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and its partners. Funds are raised through sponsorships, team
registrations, and concessions.
Our concession areas have been carefully planned around the requests and needs of our participants.
General concessions may be purchased on site throughout the day of the event on a cash basis.
Advance food and beverage tickets can be purchased for companies or dragon boat teams. It is our
policy that food or beverage carry-ins are not allowed on the festival grounds.
Athlete’s village exemption:
Because our teams are asked to remain on the festival grounds for the duration of the races, an
exception to the above policy is made for individual teams within the Athlete’s Village. Only teams
who reserve a team tent or a team tent space will be granted this exemption.
All carry-in food and beverages must be prepared off-site and delivered to the site completely cooked
and assembled. These items must be served in and remain in the team tent area. Only team members
and their immediate guests may consume the carry-ins. Carry-ins may not be sold or offered to other
festival participants.
These items are the only acceptable carry-ins:
1. Potluck (team members bring a food item* to share).
2. Purchase pick-up or carryout products from a public restaurant or grocery store for
personal/group consumption.
3. Secure the services of a pre-approved licensed caterer or vendor. (The Dragonboat
committee must approve all caterers in writing. Please submit all catering requests (including
number of guests to be served, name of vendor, and complete menu order) to
dragonlady@uwosh.edu ).
4. Brown Bag (each group member brings their own food for personal consumption)
5. Coolers of non-alcoholic beverages.
*It is the responsibility of the team members to safely store and serve food items. Perishable food
items should be served for a limited time and then safely stored or disposed of.
All equipment (coolers, serving tables) must fit inside the designated 10’x10’ team tent area.
The following carry-in items and equipment are not allowed:
1. Grills, slow-cookers, small-flames, turkey fryers, etc.
2. Alcoholic beverages: Due to liquor license issues, alcoholic beverages may not be
brought onto the premises. WI Beverages will be sold by licensed personnel at the festival
grounds in accordance with WI state statutes.
3. RVs, Campers, Trailers

Race Day

Race Day is Sept 25th at 8:00 AM sharp.

We will have a tent set up the night before and may decorate or visit it so you now where it is. I will recieve the number and pass it along to you, it will be located with in the Waterfest Ampha Theater area. There will also be a free concert the night of the 24th at the Ampha theater.

We will also recieve a free T-shirt from the Dragon Boat Fest and 1 free practice on the boat scheduled for Sept. 11th at 330.

I have also made arrangments with the university for an Xtra practice on Sept. 21st at 5:30. We MUST have atleast 12 people present to take the boat out.

Registration fees

Fees are due by April 29th. $45.00 is needed by each team member for registration and there will be an additional cost for practices ranging from $5.00 to $50.00 depending on how often you would like to practice.

1 team practice is included in the $45.00 registration fee.

I would require anyone joining the team to participate in practice atleast 2 additional times.

Things for Team- Members to Consider

You may want to bring several changes of clothing.
A rain coat, jacket or blankets.
Bring a fold up chair to leave at the tent.
Carry- in food and non-alcholic beverage
Car-pool or bike ride
Leave in plenty of time to arrive by 8.00 a.m. day of the race
Locate the tent on the map you recieved (we are tent 18)

Directions for Race Day

From Hwy 41, take the 9th Ave Exit (Exit 117)
Turn East onto W 9th AveTurn Left onto S. Main St (US 45)
Turn right onto Ceape AveThe Leach Amphitheater and Riverside park are on the right.
Parking is very limited on the festival grounds and surrounding streets. We close one of the main parking lots to host the festival. Also, Ceape Street will be closed beginning at the intersection of Court and Ceape streets from 8:45 a.m. - 9:15 a.m. for the Dragonboat 5K fun run.

Here are some ideas to consider:-
Carpool: Meet up with your teammates to drive together to the grounds. -
Take the free shuttle from Kolf Sports Center at UW Oshkosh - the shuttle runs continuously from UW Oshkosh to the Leach Amphitheater from 7 a.m. - until after the awards ceremony.- Ride your bike: A complimentary bike check will be available on the festival grounds and someone will be stationed to watch bicycles all day.

I would like to Thank our host for the good time had on the fun paddle in Winneconne. Several of our team mates attended and said it was a boat load of fun! You may want to keep this in mind for next year.
